P.U.M.A. British Open Championship - Swindon - Feb 2015
The J.H. Kim Taekwondo Institute in Carrigtwohill sent a team of 7 competitors across to the UK this past weekend to compete in the P.U.M.A. British Taekwondo Open Championship. The competition is hosted by the Professional Unification of Martial Arts led by Master Raymond Gayle. This is the second year that J.H. Kim have traveled to this competition which is held each year in Swindon. We are delighted to report that from 7 competitors, we brought home 10 trophies. In the veterans division Mark Healy (2nd Deg) won 1st place for Black belt patterns and 2nd place for sparring, Mary O'Brien Williams (2nd Deg) won 2nd place for Black belt patterns and 1st place for sparring and 3rd place for power breaking and Natasha Durity (1st Deg) won 3rd place for Black belt patterns and 2nd place for sparring.
In the cadets division Rebecca Crawford (2nd Deg) won 2nd place for Black belt patters and 3rd place for sparring.
In the juniors division Alex Healy (1st Kup) won 2nd place for sparring. The team was also joined be Adam Gray (2nd Deg) and Matt Moroney (1st Kup) who both competed in the fiercely competitive boys junior divisions and were unlucky despite great efforts by both.
A great weekend was had by all members. Trophies were won, new friends were made and some memorable experiences were had.
